Urban Movement Teen Camp

Ages: 11 - 16 years old

During the summer break, we offer a unique opportunity for teens to engage daily in a mindful movement camp, through the urban landscape of Singapore, that uses a variety of movement methods to encourage body awareness, physical conditioning, playfulness and mindfulness. Each session will include gentle warm ups, elements of parkour, calisthenics and locomotive movements, as well as daily breath work and meditation. These sessions aim to cultivate concentration, mindfulness, coordination, strength, flexibility, self confidence, agility, creativity and playfulness.

The Mindful Movement Camp is facilitated by Daniel Sonic Rojas, who has an incredibly experienced background in movement and mindfulness art forms, and who is internationally recognised for his unique aptitude to engage with children and adults to easily translate these meaningful modalities. 

Sessions will follow all Phase restriction guidelines. No movement or meditation experience is necessary, and all sessions will be tailored to the capacity of each participant.

Location

All sessions are outdoors (and will be under shelter in case of rain). Meeting locations will rotate each day between Fort Canning Park, Youth Olympic Park, Marina Bay Sands and other Central Locations agreed upon preceding the camp dates by all participants.

  • How to build an intelligent movement practice

  • How to cultivate mindfulness through movement and stillness

  • How to breathe properly

  • Elements of calisthenics, parkour, animalistic & integrative movements

  • Appropriate methods of meditation

  • Mindfulness games that encourage collaboration, coordination and confidence

One Camp: $450 SGD

Both Camps: $ 875 SGD

Limited to 5 pax (each camp)

What to bring: 

Wear comfortable clothing for movement and running shoes. Bring mosquito repellant, water bottle and a light snack. 

About the Facilitator

DANIEL "SONIC" ROJAS has been dancing, moving and performing for more than 25 years, and is known around the world for his movement creativity and dance mastery. His rich experience includes several World, European and Scandinavian Championships in breakdance, touring for nearly 20 years with reputable, contemporary dance companies in Europe, performing in world acclaimed theatre productions, dancing for Queens, Kings and Presidents, and inspiring millions to move through his performances, competitions, workshops and life story. Combining his Latin roots and his experiential journey of many years as a dedicated movement practitioner, Daniel has created his own art form, Embodied Dance Movement (EDM). EDM is a multi-level movement methodology, grounded in mindfulness, that dissolves the boundaries between different movement cultures with the aim of giving individuals a unique way of expressing themselves, deepening body awareness, connecting to feeling and developing an intelligent self practice of conscious movement. Daniel shares EDM worldwide to all ages and levels, including at festivals, schools and dance academies, as well as continues to perform, compete and judge international events and to share private sessions and immersions. 

Daniel has been sharing mindful movement curriculums for children, teens and adults with astonishing results that show significant increases in self-esteem, presence, emotional awareness and body awareness and aptitude.
