Get ready to play, move and express with your inner animal among the cityscape of Tokyo! Urban Animal is a special, collaborative workshop between Daniel Sonic Rojas, world-renown professional dancer/movement expert and creator of Embodied Dance Movement, and Masa Suzuki, internationally known as a top-level Parkour Instructor and the one of the Fighting Monkey Practice teachers in Japan.

This double workshop series incorporates original concepts derived from Dance, Acrobatics, Martial Arts, Yoga, Parkour, and Animalistic & Locomotive Movement among other art forms and philosophies, taught in a highly creative, engaging and accessible format by Sonic and Masa, two Master Movement Instructors. Participants are welcome from all backgrounds. No movement experience is necessary.

#1) Art of Flow
This workshop focuses understanding and utilising the energy flow inside our body to discover body control & freedom within constant motion. Through bioenergetic flows between movement and stillness, working from within the body using momentum and connection to body functionality, we will explore our understanding of the moving body.

Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm (2hours)

#2) Art of Organic Control
This workshop focuses on organic strength training and mobility practices to cultivate mobility, strength and resilience of the body and mind. Through connection to our innate movements and physicality, we will explore our understanding of the physical body.

Time: 14:00-17:00 (3hours)

INSTRUCTORS

DANIEL SONIC ROJAS
Professional Dancer and Movement Expert, Sonic has been dancing & performing for more than 25 years, and is known around the world for his creative movements and dance mastery. His rich experience includes several World, European and Scandinavian Championships in breakdance, touring for nearly 20 years with reputable, contemporary dance companies in Europe, performing in world acclaimed theatre productions, dancing for Queens, Kings and Presidents, and inspiring millions to dance through his performances, battles, workshops and life story. He is the creator of internationally recognised Embodied Dance Movement, an integrative movement discipline that specialises in the foundational understanding of body functionality related to body awareness, embodiment of emotion and intelligent practice. MASA SUZUKI
Parkour Practitioner and Movement Coach representing Japan, Masa is widely involved in various works of movement from commercials and music videos, live performances and shows, seminars and workshops, personal training to designing facilities and equipment. Masa has worked as a professional performer both in Japan and the USA before he became a teacher at Gymnastikhøjskolen i Ollerup (renown Movement School in Denmark), after which he came to Japan to work as a freelance Parkour & Movement Coach in order to share his expertise and knowledge.
